The Moxie - September Edition

Mox-ie noun: force of character, determination, nerve, or pep

Welcome to the September Edition of The Moxie!

This edition is FIRE - you’ll find updates on my membership - The Collectiv. and how to join us, a "very demure, very mindful" What's Hot & What's Not, a spotlight interview with one of my amazing clients Heather Tracey, collabs galore, the current earworm I’m listening to, plus details of a my 1:1 coaching packages and how to book a FREE 20 min call, as well as what I'm loving about the month ahead!

September is here, bringing with it that "back-to-school" energy. There’s something about this time of year that makes me want to hit the reset button (and buy a new notebook). It’s the perfect time to shed what’s no longer serving us and focus on what truly matters.

As Autumn calls, it’s time to harness that BTSE (back-to-school-energy) and channel it into our lives and work. After the laid-back summer, getting back into the groove can be challenging, but also exciting.

But, you don’t have to do it all on your own! As you know I am a firm believer in the power of collaboration. Twice a week, I meet with a friend who’s my accountability buddy. We set our goals, hash out our plans, celebrate each other for being bad-asses and keep each other on track. It’s incredible how much a little partnership can supercharge your momentum and make even the most audacious goals feel within reach.

Collaboration is also at the heart of some work I’m doing alongside my coaching biz, supporting a brilliant woman who’s launching an exciting new business. I’m supporting her with sales, partnerships, brand strategy, and messaging—all the things I love. It’s invigorating to be part of her journey and to help shape something truly special that is going to help so many people.

Last week in The Collectiv, we explored the power of collaboration. We currently live in a world that often celebrates hyper-individualism and it’s easy to forget how vital it is to connect, to team up, to ask for help and co-create without ego. With the news of the Oasis reunion, I've really noticed the lack of bands in the charts. Aside from the 90's nostalgia it’s an important reminder that we’re stronger together (as much as they might not want to, Noel and Liam were rubbish on their own)!

So, this September, let’s embrace the BTSE by setting our sights on our goals and seeking out ways to collaborate, support, and uplift each other. Whether it’s teaming up with an accountability partner, joining forces on a project, or simply reaching out to your community, let’s make this season one of collective growth, connection, and unstoppable momentum.

Here’s to a productive, collaborative, and inspiring September!

I hope you enjoy this edition x

What's Hot & What's Not, is the section where we keep you in the loop with the latest trends and what is falling in and out of favour. It is sprinkled with some of my own options, so take those with a pinch of salt!

I'm jumping on board the "Very Demure" internet phenomenon for this one!

What's Hot

Very Demure, Very Brand You: Personal branding that’s subtle yet impactful - carefully curated Instagram feeds, thoughtful blog posts, and branding that feels both polished AND authentic to your biz, with a softer, more personal touch.

Very Mindful, Very Business Savvy: Mindful entrepreneurship: setting boundaries, prioritising your energy, and mindfulness practices into your daily business routine.

Very Cutesy, Very Client-Friendly: Add a touch of whimsy to client interactions. This could be through playful packaging, adorable thank-you notes, or fun themed workshops, incorporating a bit of cutesy can make your brand more memorable and engaging.

Very Wholesome, Very Community-Driven: Building and nurturing creative communities - an online group, local meetups, or collaborative projects, a sense of togetherness is key to growth and inspiration.

Very Vintage, Very Storytelling: Embrace the art of storytelling - share your journey on social media, create narrative-driven content, or even hosting storytelling events, a compelling story is more powerful than ever.

What's Not

Very Flashy, Very Inauthentic: Over-the-top personal branding that’s all style and no substance. Think loud, flashy feeds with little genuine engagement or depth— “all fur coat and nae knickers”!

Very Chaotic, Very Stressful: Neglecting mindfulness and burning the candle at both ends. Rigid routines with no room for mental health or self-care – check in on your energy!

Very Stiff, Very Corporate: Impersonal interactions that lack warmth or character.

Very Isolated, Very Solo: Working in isolation without engaging with or building a community. Join The Collectiv.!

Very Generic, Very Unremarkable: Generic messaging that doesn’t differentiate or resonate with your audience.

In this edition of The Moxie, we’re excited to introduce one of my clients Heather Tracey - a dynamic and passionate professional dedicated to transforming workplace culture.

Heather’s full-time role focuses on managing intercultural, language, and coaching services, and she also has a coaching and training business.

Heather is on a mission to revolutionise how people perceive themselves at work, advocating for authenticity and personal empowerment over conforming to corporate norms.

1. Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

I’m a mum, partner, dog lover, and unapologetic belter of power ballads in the car. We live in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, where I try to see the funny side of life and laugh as much as possible. I’m passionate about understanding people—their beliefs, feelings, and how they navigate work and life. Having spent years feeling like life was just happening to me, I now recognize the immense impact of believing in oneself, and it’s something I continuously strive to embody.

I work full-time in the global mobility industry, managing intercultural, language, and coaching services. This role fulfils my need to contribute to something that deeply affects people's lives. Alongside this, I run my coaching and training business, where I channel my passion into action. I’m on a mission to REVOLUTIONISE how anyone who feels stuck at work perceives themselves, their job, and the opportunities that lie just around the corner. This isn’t about settling for "I’m fine, really." We’ve only got one life, and it’s time to live and work in a way that feels truly authentic and meaningful.

No more contorting ourselves to fit some corporate mould. I want people to see the power in embracing their true selves at work—because when you show up as who you really are, that’s when the magic happens. It’s time to say, "This is me, and I’m f***ing amazing.

2. What challenges or obstacles have you faced on your journey, and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge has been believing in myself—trusting that I have what it takes to aim high and achieve more. I’m incredibly grateful for the amazing people I’ve met along the way, who saw my potential long before I did. However, I often valued their opinions over my own instincts, assuming I was wrong if something didn’t feel right. Learning to trust my internal voice is still a work in progress, but the shift in how I view my life and career has been transformative.

3. Describe a moment or experience that was a turning point in your life or career. How did it impact you?

I love pinpointing turning points! One of the first was choosing between two potential partners—I often wonder if I would have spent nine years living in Taiwan, Egypt, and Malaysia if I’d chosen differently. Another was the sudden loss of my wonderful dad. It shook my world and made me realize how much I wanted to make significant changes in my life. I moved back to the UK, met my partner, and we had our daughter—a beautiful outcome from such a profound loss. And then there was finding coaching. It completely transformed my relationship with myself, making my mind a more loving, fun, and powerful space filled with ideas.

4. What motivated you to seek coaching?

A friend of mine was talking about the impact coaching had on her, and she was running a course. I attended to support her, expecting very little—I was firmly in the "This will never work for me" camp. I was cynical and ready to roll my eyes...but it changed my life. Outwardly, everything seemed “fine,” but internally, there was so much that wasn’t.

5. How has coaching or working with me helped you in achieving your goals or vision?

Kat brings the fire, the love, the spice. When my old doubts about trusting myself resurface, I tend to drift away from my dreams, convincing myself that I’m unsure or too busy. Kat doesn’t let me off the hook—she calls me out, refocuses me, and reignites my passion and clarity for what I want to achieve.

6. What are your future aspirations or goals, and how do you plan to continue growing and evolving?

Um I’m going to change the blimmin corporate world to be a more authentic, passionate place.  Where people live life fully both in and outside of work.

I’ve completely shifted how I approach my job, understanding that while I need the stability and income it provides right now, I’m still in the driver’s seat. I’m challenging myself to explore new directions, have big conversations, and make bold proposals to senior leaders—and then making them happen. My own business will expand on this, driving forward the idea that all employees should feel the fire of trusting themselves, their ideas, and their dreams. Imagine how much more fun work could be!

Earworms....

NEW WOMAN

LISA (Featuring ROSALIA)

I have become hooked on Netflix show Pop Star Academy: Katseye (don't judge me). It's about the GROOLING audition process to form a new K-Pop band and as someone who knows very little about K-Pop it's been riveting! K-Pop bands are a like a slick production line of talent. Anyway....I've become a K-Pop convert and this new track is by an ex K-Pop icon LISA (formally of BlackPink) is a banger!

She's collaborated with Spanish icon Rosalia and I love the 2 culture collab, Both artists sections sound very different and a little bit jarring, but somehow it works! Come join the K-Pop train with me...you know you wanna!
